With the turning of the season, and the influx of new deliveries, we thought we’d spoil you some more and give you a sneak peak of what to expect this new season at Garment Quarter. Comme Des Garcons

Comme des Garçons was established by Rei Kawakubo in 1969. The Japanese label grew in it’s homeland throughout the seventies before first showing in Paris in 1981. Divided into several diffusion lines you can discover the youthful Comme des Garçons PLAY of t-shirts, polos, knitwear and a collaboration with Converse. This Spring/Summer 2015, Comme des Garcons aims to “find ideas executed to the extreme”. With a new season focus on expressions of love, played out to the most vivid and intense effect you will find an influx of red products charged with roses, ribbons and hearts. A new concept has been created whereby Comme has explored wider concepts that we alone would not imagine.

Mary Katrantzou

Ex – Central Saint Martins graduate breaks through this Spring/Summer 2015 with a newly iconic range of high – end fashion attire. Last Autumn, Mary broke away from her digital prints and moved towards a collection of beautifully embroidered column growns which she’s grown upon this season. Mary’s inspiration comes from her fascination with geologic times, when the earth was dominated by a supercontinent which smothered a third of the earth’s surface. Her focus is centred upon when two hunded odd million years ago, it was broken up and pulled apart to create something new. This season we will see nude and light summer pastel colours contrasting with panelling, prints, letting and stamps which contribute to the revealing/concealing of skin.

Versus Versace

What started as a gift by the founder Gianni Versace to his sister, Donatella Versace, Versus was born. Beginning in 1989 as one of many diffusion lines of Versace, Versus was closed in 2005. In 2009 Donatella resurrected the true rock and roll soul of Versace with a capsule collection of accessories designed by emerging British designer Christopher Kane. The brand continues to work now with Anthony Vaccarello. This season is all about keeping it simple – sounds easy but it’s where his predecessors have failed. There is a new emphasis this Spring/Summer on black and gold accents, low sunk trousers and silk shirts. He further rendered the Medusa head to fit perfectly on all his signature statements.

Victoria, Victoria Beckham

Garment Quarter introduced Victoria Beckham’s line ‘Victoria’ when the ex – Spice girls singer was trying to make her great breakthrough. A few years later, we see Victoria crowned ‘Brand of the Year’ at the British Fashion Awards, and now, she is soon to be opening a brand – new store in Mayfair, London later this year. This season, Victoria focuses on her iconic mid – hemline skirts and dresses, combining vibrancy with a prestigious subtlety and chic-ness. This Spring/Summer 2015 we see textured dressing, panel dresses and a range inspired by Tennis sportswear. This is sure to be one of Victoria’s best yet and you can get it all here at Garment Quarter.

Vivienne Westwood Anglomania

The Spring/Summer 2015 Anglomania collection is inspired by paradise and personal eternal, unique places. It aims to combine nature and culture in a harminous blend of rich flora and fauna, further inspired by Henri Matisse’s painting La Blouse Romaine. The prints and graphics are colourful and dynamic with a vibrant hand – painted feel. Every garment is a perfect canvas for Westwood to express her energy and joyfulness which would emerge from a paradise ideal.

Vivienne Westwood Red Label

This Spring/Summer 2015, Westwood returns with her statement Red Carpet label which turns heads regardless of the season. However, notably, Westwood tones down her daring clothing and opts for a more elegant evening – wear attire. Inspired by dazzling colourful fabrics and her new inspiration of using shining striped layers of fabric creates this new iconic look for ss15. Silks and floral/fauna patterns are used to bring silk shirt dresses to life and back tie’s are used to create feminine flairs. Excess fabric is included around the bust of dresses to prove flattering to the womanly body and the synonymous draping and cutting techniques are further used to emphasise that ultra feminine silhouette.

Comme Des Garcons PLAY

Comme des Garçons PLAY line is famed for it’s bug-eyed heart logo having been produced in collaboration with Filip Pagowski – a graphic artist from New York. This is re-worked onto t-shirts, polos, knitwear and a collaboration with Converse including the iconic Chuck Taylor and Pro Leather trainers. The Spring/Summer 2015 range is inspired by the personification of Love and including as much red, hearts and eyes on the clothes as possible. PLAY is a favourite amongst fashionable celebrities with devotees including Kanye West, Mary-Kate Olsen and Alexa Chung.

Paul Smith

Paul Smith focuses on the “effortless” look this Spring/Summer 2015. Reportedly saying, “It’s effortless, it’s all about being effortless, did you see how the models just naturally put their hands in their pockets?” moments after his runway show, Smith’s new season has a focus on easygoing urbanites. Utterly unapologetic in their ‘normcore’ appeal, the message conveyed this season really was “This is stuff is to live in”. With thick giant pockets, loose tailored shapes and cotton trousers, the clothes still have life. Smith says that they are clothes for people “happy in their own skin”.

Vivienne Westwood MAN

The Spring/Summer 2015 range is inspired by Native American Tribal Wear. Westwood comments on how she began the collection by focusing on British childhood seaside holiday imagery and noticing how the pixelated graphics of the late 1970s arcade games resemble Native American art. Combining pixel block tartan prints and needle punch techniques, embellished with beading, raw edges and fringing creates this new season VW Man range. Westwood also nods towards the first appearance of her signature bondage trouser in the 1970s which has made a reappearance for the Summer months.

Vivienne Westwood Gold Label

As the more fashion forward edit of her menswear collection Vivienne Westwood uses her MAN Gold Label collection as a platform to broadcast her own message of concern with pleas to prevent climate change or tackle political concern.  Westwood often uses eco-friendly fabrics and resources in her Gold Label line where possible and trickles these new techniques through to her MAN and unisex collection. Iconic slogans and motifs can be seen decorating classic men’s t-shirts and knitwear with nods to her celebrated punk roots.
